If you have children at home, you already know how difficult these stains can be — and you may wonder why. The answer is simple: chemistry! These stains are among the hardest to remove because proteins try to bind to the fabric, making the stain even more stubborn, especially once it has dried.

Step 1: We recommend rinsing the stain with cold water first, which helps remove proteins that have attached to the fibers. Hot water, on the other hand, can cause proteins to set permanently into the fabric.

Step 2: Treat the stain with our “Blood & Proteins” Stain Remover and a soft brush. Let the garment soak in a basin of cold water for up to 30 minutes.

Step 3: Finally, machine wash the item with one of our detergents, following the garment’s care label, and allow it to air-dry.

For heavy stains on garments labeled delicate or dry-clean only, such as silk, always test the product on a small hidden area first.

If you’re dealing with old, dried blood stains, we recommend using our “Rust” Stain Remover.
